Weather

It was 7 degrees outside when I left for work this morning. That's c-c-cold! I bet there are others of you who could beat that, though. One thing that is funny about our lives here is how competitive we are about the weather. Ryan is always asking our parents what the weather is like it Texas so that he can slam them by telling them it's at least 20 degrees colder here -as if that were a big surprise. And obviously I can't resist that temptation, either. Cheap thrills. :)

Anyone else competitive about meaningless things over which you have no control?

that is pretty cold... I am a weeny when it comes to cold weather!
I crack up at how moms are competitive about when their babies do things... rolling over, cutting teeth, hitting the 20 lb mark... sitting up, crawling, walking, etc... We have a mom at church whose baby is about to be a year old, and she is leterally trying to give him lessons on how to walk so that he will be walking on his first birthday! It is funny how I am less concerned with each child... we are just glad that Bryson seems to be growing ok and he is a pretty happy camper!

As I have explained to Cory many a times "I am not competitive, I simply enjoy winning and am talented enough to do so often." :)

I agree with Summer though- being a parent can bring on some serious competitiveness for silly uncontrollable things. And I also agree that moms seem to get less wrapped up in it the more kiddos they have- not because you love the others less but you just realize each child does things in their own time and their timing is just right for them! (and does not indicate future geniousness or lack there of) :)

I don't really feel very competitive about my child, but maybe that is because he is just the smartest boy in the world! : ) Just kidding, but I really have never felt competitive with other moms about Jackson. I have pretty much just always listened to his pediatrician say that he seemed on track and not really worried when he did something a little late. I do, however, often feel competitive about other silly things. Since I can never win the "it's colder here" competition, I am more of an "it's hotter here" kind of gal.
