Moving, Traveling, Sleeping

Recently we've moved apartments and made our first, quick venture outside of Ireland - to Paris! Both events were exhausting (thank you, Asher), so I'm looking forward to staying put and being settled and a little more relaxed in the days ahead.

Enjoying our new view out of the DOUBLE PANED windows! Yeah! We can already tell that this apartment is much warmer, and we're thankful that we can look forward to feeling a little cozier this winter. We're right on the light rail line, so we're not as close to the middle of town, but it's just a train ride away, and we're in a much quieter area.

Just to clarify - this is not where we live. It's the Paris Opera House. I think a very noticeable thing about the beautiful parts of Paris we saw is just how grand a scale everything is on - look how much taller than the very tall buses that first floor is. It's such a large building to be so intricately beautiful. I guess if you live in Paris the rest of the world is just a disappointment to you. Of course, when you're from a little town in South Texas, you don't have that problem; instead, you walk around Paris with your mouth hanging open like a dummy. ;)

We didn't make it to the Louvre in the day and a half we had to see the city, but this museum, Musee d'Orsay, was beautiful and had some pretty familiar works. The building used to be a train station. I can only imagine arriving in Paris is such a setting.

So we had that great combo of fun and stress with our little sleepless-when-traveling-man, but now we're back and ready to do a little catch up in the sleep department. It is nice to think of coming to Ireland as getting back home in some way. I think we'll be staying put for awhile now.
