You do the math

11 hours of flying + 21 hours of driving = about 5,000 miles or southern California!  It's a little too much for me to process still, but we are here.  Moving is still emotionally and spiritually brutal; I thought maybe the fact that I've more experience with it now would help, and it does to some extent, but I think it will still take time to adjust and accept our new surroundings.  The surroundings are pretty nice, though.   Our apartment is very close to Ryan's work, so I can drop him off in the morning and enjoy the freedom of having car all day, and after two years it's really a pleasure to have a car, though sometimes I miss walking.  Asher found his stroller in the closet the other day and was trying to pull it out so that he could take me for a walk.  :)

I'm longing for home, but I suppose that home is something of an illusion here in this life.  As a Christian, the belief that one day we really will be home and that our longings will find the kind of fulfillment that just isn't here for us now really does seem essential.  Won't that be a happy relief?!

A little walk down recent memory lane . . .

At Pepperdine a couple of weeks ago - we visited the campus when R's parents brought Asher out

In Texas in August

These photos make me laugh because they're very representative of our current dealings with Asher.  He is a mess!  A lovable, wiggly mess.

Beautiful West Ireland

A nice and relaxing afternoon with Asher's "Irish Grandma" Leslie
